Hurricane Shutters Prices – Factors that Affect Them

If you are planning to install hurricane shutters then you need to know the cost. The features of a particular type, area to be covered, installation procedure, and the area you stay in will determine the prices.

Roll down shutters are amongst the most expensive with prices going up to $30/square foot but this is because of the number of features that these shutters provide. They are easy to install and can be operated automatically; they are compliant with building codes and offer excellent protection.
Accordion shutters are retrofitted, are usually made of extruded aluminum, and can cover any width. They don’t support centralized operation. These will cost up to $20 per square foot. They offer the advantage of installation around curved surfaces.

Plywood sheets are the cheapest of the lot and as sturdy as anything. You can get them for as low as $3/square foot. They can be installed in a matter of minutes. But if you place them on the door, you’re boxed in or out. So install them if you are planning to be away from your premises during the hurricane season. Be sure to leave an allowance between the window pane and the plywood.

Storm panels are cheap as well but they are a chore to install because there are so many of them. They are strong and can cost you up to $12/square foot. Taking them out can be tedious.
